Date Changes
4/1/08
  • It appears last year's softball season disrupted the push-out of the previous update.
  • So where is Clan Seger going this year on the feis circuit?
  • A disturbing look at the dark side of Irish Dance research and development
  • 6/18/07
  • Finished up the last of the 2006 feis reviews (Peter Smith and Southern Tier)
  • Posted the first of our 2007 feis reviews (Music City, Staten Island, Queen City, and Louisville)
  • 4/1/07
    7/31/06
    • The Shoes section of REEL HELP had quite escaped my attention when converting the site away from frames. That's fixed.
    • Final update to this year's feis schedule now that we've opted to remove Irish Dancing as a vacation activity in September and Rebekah's been instructed to compete at a local feis in October
    6/20/06
    05/29/06
    • FINALLY finished the 2005 feis reviews with the inaugural Kansas City Feis
    • Still more updates to the 2006 Feis schedule now that we have an idea of where the yearly vacation is going this year
    • Reviews for the Houston New Year's and Crescent City feisanna are finally up. Those of you waiting on Little Rock and Queen City reviews need to send more emails telling Devonna to get off her butt and edit my rough drafts.
    • Yes, this year's Queen City Feis was the inspiration for this REEL HELP article
    • Conversion of the Irish Dance Photo Gallery and Strange Code sections away from frames. They're going to look a little strange while I debug the last oddities from the conversion. These should be the last ones.

    • After reviewing the access logs, I realized that Google has the older HTML versions of my feis reviews cached and not the newer XML versions. It makes more sense to keep the reviews as HTML (with an able assist from my templating engine).
    • It quite slipped my mind during the previous update, but we've got some photos up from the 2003 dance season.
    12/23/05
    • It's been a long time coming, but the website is now running on a new server! (Hat tip: Derwood from naebunny.net)
    • The problems with the XML engine that made the site unusable for most of the year were a combination of malformed XSLT stylesheets and a pathological interaction with server threading. Both have now been fixed. I hope.
    • New features to my HTML templating engine allow me to do away with frames site-wide. The Dancing Diatribe and Dancing on the Edge are the first section so converted.
    • Feis reviews are posted for all of 2005 except for Kansas City.
    • Our tentative feis schedule for 2006 is now posted as well.
    • Updates to the Staidreamh Project covering the 2005 Midwest Oireachtas.
    04/01/05
    • Devonna finally got me to add some entries to the Motivational section of her page on Irish Dance Videos
    • Ever wondered why some Irish Dancers seemed so robotic? We don't anymore.
    03/02/05
    • I've got most of the Diatribes back online, including the one I was intending to post on Monday about Midwest Oireachtas eligibility.
    • The only Diatribes that are still broken are the 2003 and 2004 April Fools Diatribes, both of which require Javascript. My best guess is that the XSLT transform I'm performing on the server is somehow rendering them non-parseable on browsers.
    02/28/05
    • FINALLY finished out the last of the 2004 Feis reviews, with a mini-review of Columbus and full reviews of Great Lakes and Longs Peak
    • Started the 2005 feis season with reviews of the Houston New Year's and Music City feisanna. At least I'll be up to date until Saturday...
    • If you haven't noticed by now, I'm starting a gradual makeover of the entire site to something more XML-based. The Feis reviews have been converted and seem to be running OK; the next sections due for conversion are the Dancing Diatribe and my Road Geekery section.
    • Due to a combination of the last item and the fact I still don't quite have the hang of using Subversion for revision control, the Dancing Diatribe is seriously broken. And just as I was about to post a new one, too...

    • The review of this year's Peach State Feis. Sorry for the immense delay, but shopping for a new Feismobile and curing a head cold from Hell sort of took priority...
    • Devonna's got some additions to her Irish Dance Shoe pages
    05/07/03
    04/21/03
    • The final stylesheet bugfix to the site navbars. I know, I said that the other two times, too...
    • A major change in downtown Beavercreek that doesn't involve Xenia-bound tornadoes.
    • No site covering DHTML would be complete without its own version of a menu bar widget now, would it?
    04/01/03
    • Some modifications to my tree code so it uses a more sane font on IE5/Mac
    • A bugfix on the site stylesheet affecting some of my navigation bars
    • I think you all know what a diatribe on this specific date means...
    03/16/03

    • After too much neglect, a new Dancing On The Edge story
    • Something for the dance family's computer geek to do over on Reel Help
    • Some major fixes to the Irish Dancing Photo Gallery
    • Rewrote the tree API to (again) support IE5.0/Win following a bug catch from a reader
    • Implemented a platform-conditional stylesheet to get all my navigation bars and panes to display correctly

    • I've been way overdue with an update on the US 35/North Fairfield Road project.
    • The horrible consequences of having too much free time, a computer, and three years' worth of Midwest Oireactas programs in hand.

    • Oh, and it's been awhile since I updated progress on the US 35/North Fairfield Road project
    09/07/02
    • Broke the Update Log up by year. I've been meaning to do this for a while, but it finally passed threshold of annoyance this time.
    • The first two days of the World Tour are online (here and here), complete with pictures
