The MVRPC website had an application to widen this stretch of 70. This would have been a necessary and fairly straightforward project which wouldn't have been started until 2011. A shame, because it's been needed for years. ODOT's TRAC council continued its aggressive neglect of the Dayton Area by rejecting the application in 2005.
The MVRPC also has really long-range plans for widening 70 west from OH 48 to the Preble County Line. Simple as this project should be, I will not discuss it until a TRAC application is submitted.

Over the next few years, this massively-underdesigned deathtrap cloverleaf will be rebuilt as a much higher-capacity and safer Flyover/3. Details can be found in this article, originally published in the Dayton Daily News on 3/17/2002.
As part of the project, an extra travel lane and an auxillary lane are being built westward from here to the Airport Access Road.

Existing interstate will be widened from 4 to 6 lanes. The eastbound end will connect to an existing 6-lane stretch of I-70 that extends to near Springfield.
Modifications to the OH 202 (Old Troy Pike) interchange in Huber Heights have already been started. The current interchange -- a small folded diamond servicing three large strip malls and an equally-large truck stop -- is severely underdesigned to handle its current load. ODOT contributed $500,000 to this project in 2003 and $3,000,000 in 2004, with the remainder of the $9.8 million pricetag coming from both Huber Heights and ODOT district 7 in 2004. Ramps are being added in the empty land immediately west of the existing interchange, which leads me to believe it will be modified into a more conventional diamond. There is the possibility one of the loop ramps could be retained, but no plans for the modification have ever been published online for me to find out.

The six-lane stretch of I-70 that begins at exit 41 ends at the Enon exit, just in time for 70 to bypass Springfield. In 2003, Governor Taft announced widening this stretch of 70 as a high-priority project to be accomplished within the next ten years.
During the last rebuild of this stretch a few years back, extra-wide left-hand shoulders were added to 70 east of the OH 72 exit. All bridges between there and I-40 looked like they were rebuilt to accomodate extra travel lanes at the same time.

The six-lane segment west out of Columbus currently ends at the US 42 exit. This segment is currently being extended westward to the OH 54 exit.
Once all these projects are built, there will be six-lane continuity from Englewood east to the I-670 split on the west side of Columbus -- just about 70 miles in all.
